RN (Registered Nurse)
Overview
- Specialty: MS/Tele Float Pool
- Location: Centennial, Colorado
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: 36 per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Active RN role
- 2 years of MS-Tele experience
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Driver’s license must be submitted
Preferred Experience
- Prior neuro experience
Assignment Details
- Float assignment required within a 60-mile zone
- No home base facility
- May be assigned to multiple units, including general MS-Tele and specialty areas such as cardiac, neuro, oncology, rehab, renal, bariatrics, ortho, trauma, and ED observation
- May be asked to float to ICU, PCU/stepdown, and MS-Tele
- Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6 based on acuity
- Heparin drips may be titrated
- Respiratory therapy equipment is available
- Charge nurse is designated on each unit and usually does not take an assignment unless necessary
- Nursing assistants are available
- Scrub color is any color
Schedule and Expectations
- Schedule is made by leadership 6 weeks at a time
- Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
- 6–9 weekend shifts are required in a 6-week schedule
- May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
- Call or standby is rare and only for low census
- Time-off requests must be submitted before the assignment starts
- Orientation includes 1–2 days with a preceptor
- Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation even if modules are completed remotely
Housing
- Traveler is responsible for obtaining housing that makes the 60-mile floating requirement feasible
