Description
Med Surg Ortho RN
Location
- Council Bluffs, Iowa
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Self-scheduling
- Weekend requirement: every third weekend
- Floating: may float to PCU and behavioral health
Assignment Length
- 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Iowa or compact RN license
- BLS certification
- 1 year of unit experience
- Driver’s license required at submittal
Unit Details
- Med Surg / Ortho
- 28 beds plus 22 overflow
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
- Charge nurse on each shift
- Nursing assistants / patient care techs on the unit
- Common patient population includes orthopedic, medical-surgical, respiratory, diabetic, wound care, infectious disease, behavioral health, and other acute care cases
Orientation
- First week classroom orientation
- Then 1 unit shift of 12 hours
Additional Notes
- Pass/fail exam during orientation
- Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
- RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
- Candidates must be flexible and self-directed
