NICU Respiratory Therapist

Overview

  • Location: Austin, Texas
  • Employment type: Travel
  • Schedule: 13 weeks, nights, 6:00 PM–6:00 AM
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Call: No call required
  • Weekends: Rotating, 4 weekend shifts per month

Required Qualifications

  • License: Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Texas
  • Experience: Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
  • Recent experience: Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Clinical experience: Experience in an acute care setting
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NBRC, NRP, PALS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Adult critical care, ICU, or ED experience

Unit Details

  • NICU respiratory therapy role
  • Must be able to care for babies under 32 weeks gestation
  • Typical workload is based on volume, about 35–40 assignments per shift
  • Standard respiratory therapy procedures include nebulizers, CPT, arterial blood gases, ventilator management, inhaled nitric oxide, bronchoscopy assistance, intubation assistance, and transport with mechanical ventilation within the hospital

Work Environment

  • Team-based environment with collaboration across respiratory therapy and other hospital disciplines
  • Equipment includes GE ventilators, V60 BiPAPs, and Airvo HFNC

Dress Code

  • Olive green tops and black pants
