NICU Respiratory Therapist
Overview
- Location: Austin, Texas
- Employment type: Travel
- Schedule: 13 weeks, nights, 6:00 PM–6:00 AM
- Hours per week: 36
- Call: No call required
- Weekends: Rotating, 4 weekend shifts per month
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Texas
- Experience: Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
- Recent experience: Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Clinical experience: Experience in an acute care setting
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NBRC, NRP, PALS
Preferred Qualifications
- Adult critical care, ICU, or ED experience
Unit Details
- NICU respiratory therapy role
- Must be able to care for babies under 32 weeks gestation
- Typical workload is based on volume, about 35–40 assignments per shift
- Standard respiratory therapy procedures include nebulizers, CPT, arterial blood gases, ventilator management, inhaled nitric oxide, bronchoscopy assistance, intubation assistance, and transport with mechanical ventilation within the hospital
Work Environment
- Team-based environment with collaboration across respiratory therapy and other hospital disciplines
- Equipment includes GE ventilators, V60 BiPAPs, and Airvo HFNC
