PCU Registered Nurse

Overview

Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night, 4x12s, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
Contract length: 26 weeks
Floating: Required within skillset
First-time travelers: Accepted
Local candidates: Accepted

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Vent experience required
Cardiac monitoring experience (dysrhythmia interpretation/management)
Emergency response experience
Ventilator care for chronic trach patients
Rapid Response and Code team activation experience
Experience with Epic

Scheduling Expectations

May work every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
All requested time off, block scheduling, and special scheduling requests must be included with submission

Clinical Focus

Surgical PCU role with stepdown-level care
Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
Medication administration, including cardiac drips without titration
Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen, CPAP, and BiPAP
Rapid Response and Code team activation
Isolation precautions and telemetry monitoring

Unit Notes

Typical patient ratio is 1:5, with a staffing goal of 1:4
Unit includes chronic trach patients and backup support for trauma/surgical care

Application Notes

Drivers license or state ID required within 48 hours of signing
2 clinical references required
Complete application/resume required
