PCU RN Travel/Contract Job

Overview

Location: Roanoke, Virginia

Shift: Night shift, 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
Contract length: 26 weeks
Start schedule: Up to 26 weeks available by request

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS)
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Ventilator care for chronic trach patients
Dysrhythmia interpretation/management
Respiratory support: CPAP
Rapid Response and Code team activation
Experience with Epic

Required Certifications

ACLS
BLS
NIHSS

Key Clinical Skills

Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
Ventilator care for chronic trach patients
Medication administration, including cardiac drips without titration
Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, and BiPAP
Rapid Response and Code team activation
Isolation precautions and telemetry settings

Scheduling Expectations

Weekend coverage may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
Must work one holiday per 13-week contract

Unit Details

Stepdown-level surgical PCU with bariatric specialty and backup to trauma
Typical patient ratio is 1:5; staffing goal is 1:4
Remote telemetry is used, with monitors remaining on the unit

EPIC experience required

Additional Notes

Pending license accepted under the stated license conditions
