3x12 hours
18:45–07:15
36 or 48 hours per week
Every other weekend
2 mandatory call shifts per 6-week schedule

Contract Length

13–26 weeks

Unit Overview

Labor and Delivery / Mother-Baby care
Couplet care ratio: 1:4
Approximately 800 births per year
Floating is required to assist other units, but not to take assignments

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
Traveler experience
BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
AWHONN
NRP

Required Clinical Skills

LDRP and Mother/Baby care
Sterile speculum exam assistance
Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring)
Use of External and Internal Fetal Monitoring
Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
Breastfeeding/lactation support
Circulating C/S

Additional Notes

Self-scheduling
32-hour unit orientation
Hospital-issued scrubs: Cecil blue; navy also allowed
