Step Down RN Travel Contract
Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Location: Roanoke, Virginia
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night, 4x12 hours, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
- Contract length: 26 weeks
- Start/assignment notes: Up to 26 weeks available by request
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Ventilator (vent) experience required
- Experience with Epic
Schedule and Work Expectations
- May work every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- May be called off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Must float within skillset
Clinical Setting
- Stepdown surgical PCU role
- Typical patient ratio: 1:5, with staffing goal of 1:4
- Care includes cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care, respiratory support, rapid response/code activation, and isolation precautions
Unit Highlights
- Serves as a stepdown from the general surgical ICU
- Includes bariatric specialty care and backup to the trauma unit
- Remote telemetry is used, with monitors remaining on the unit
- Chronic trach patients are cared for on the unit
Compliance and Onboarding
- Driver’s license or state ID required within 48 hours of signing
- E-Verify or attestation required
- 7-year background check required
- Education verification of highest earned degree required
- 2 clinical references required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- TB questionnaire required
- Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity or vaccination documentation required
- Employment application/resume required
- Skills checklist required and updated annually
