Cardiac Stepdown RN

Location

• Cheyenne, Wyoming

Contract

• 13 weeks
• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• 48 hours per week

Unit Overview

• 24 beds
• Heavy cardiac and cardiothoracic stepdown unit with high-acuity surgical patients
• Common patient types include pre/post cardiac procedures, CABGs, stents, post-PCIs, vascular procedures, NSTEMI, trachs, chest tubes, and post-thoracotomy patients

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• Experience with pre/post heart patients, including stents, pacemakers, ICDs, pre/post CABG, and pre/post vascular care
• Permanent address must be at least 25 miles from the facility location

Preferred Qualifications

• NIHSS

Clinical Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 on days, 1:4-5 on nights
• Telemetry monitoring is handled by monitor techs
• Drips may include Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, nitroglycerin, dobutamine, and Integrilin
• Bipap, CPAP, and home vents are used on the unit
• Home vent experience is not required

Scheduling

• Block scheduling allowed
• Self-scheduling allowed
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month
• Holiday rotation includes major holidays
• No call or standby requirement
• Possible floating with permanent staff rotation

Orientation

• 2-3 shifts

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
