Cardiac Stepdown RN
Location
- Cheyenne, Wyoming
Contract
- 13 weeks
- Nights
- 12-hour shifts
- 48 hours per week
Unit Overview
- 24 beds
- Heavy cardiac and cardiothoracic stepdown unit with high-acuity surgical patients
- Common patient types include pre/post cardiac procedures, CABGs, stents, post-PCIs, vascular procedures, NSTEMI, trachs, chest tubes, and post-thoracotomy patients
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- BLS
- ACLS
- Experience with pre/post heart patients, including stents, pacemakers, ICDs, pre/post CABG, and pre/post vascular care
- Permanent address must be at least 25 miles from the facility location
Preferred Qualifications
- NIHSS
Clinical Details
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 on days, 1:4-5 on nights
- Telemetry monitoring is handled by monitor techs
- Drips may include Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, nitroglycerin, dobutamine, and Integrilin
- Bipap, CPAP, and home vents are used on the unit
- Home vent experience is not required
Scheduling
- Block scheduling allowed
- Self-scheduling allowed
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month
- Holiday rotation includes major holidays
- No call or standby requirement
- Possible floating with permanent staff rotation
Orientation
- 2-3 shifts
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs
