Description

RN Telemetry Travel Assignment

Location

  • Kansas City, Missouri

Contract

  • 13 weeks
  • Travel assignment
  • 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Telemetry (1 year of experience)
  • Telemetry experience within the last year
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with post-cardiac procedural care including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-operative day 1 open heart surgery, and permanent pacemaker placements
  • Experience administering and titrating IV medications including insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience

Clinical Experience Needed

  • Cardiac telemetry or PCU/ICU experience
  • Ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips
  • Experience with post-cardiac procedural care, including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-op day 1 open heart, and permanent pacemaker placements
  • Ability to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone

Unit Details

  • 29-bed cardiac telemetry unit
  • Typical patient ratio: 1:4
  • Staff support includes a charge nurse, unit secretary, and patient care technicians
  • Floating may occur to any area where competency has been demonstrated

Common Procedures on the Unit

  • IV insertions
  • NGT placement and maintenance
  • Chest tube maintenance
  • Temporary pacemakers
  • Foley insertions

Scheduling

  • Full-time hours required
  • 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period

  • Fast-paced environment
  • Family-like atmosphere
  • Some contracts transition to full-time employment

Dress Code

  • Navy blue scrubs
  • Black scrub pants with a navy blue top are also allowed
