RN - PCU

Job Overview

  • Location: Asheville, North Carolina
  • Employment type: Travel
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

  • Cardiovascular progressive care unit with a primary patient population of cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients, including open heart, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomy cases.
  • Also receives overflow medical cardiology patients.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Cardiac Stepdown experience with 2 years of experience
  • Cardiac Stepdown experience within the last year
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • Stepdown experience
  • Telemetry experience
  • ACLS
  • BLS

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience with cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients within the past year
  • CVICU experience

Work Expectations

  • No call
  • Minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
  • Flexible to work holidays

Floating

  • May float to stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding areas

Unit Environment

  • 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit
  • Typical patient ratio is 1:5
  • Fast-paced, team-oriented, and flexible environment
