Description
Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse
Location
- Bakersfield, California
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Schedule
- Day shift
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts
- 5 days per week
- No call required
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- Experience in Interventional Radiology
Clinical Focus
- Assists with imaging-guided invasive procedures
- Supports sedation and patient monitoring
- Works with radiology-related procedures including paracentesis, thoracentesis, biopsies, and drainage
- Cares for inpatient and outpatient patients across pediatric to geriatric populations
Responsibilities
- Assists the Interventional Radiologist during procedures
- Coordinates the IR physician schedule
- Collaborates with floor nurses and imaging staff
- Places peripheral IVs
- May assist with pacers
- Does not scrub in
- May occasionally wear sterile gloves to hold pressure
Work Environment
- Cases vary, averaging 8–10 per day
- Supports CT, ultrasound, X-ray, MRI, and nuclear medicine areas
- On-site leadership is available on weekdays
- Nurses rotate charge assignments
Orientation
- Department orientation provided
- 3–4 different shifts for RN orientation, all day shifts
