Labor and Delivery RN
Location
Garden City, Kansas
Contract Length
13 weeks
Shift
- 12-hour nights
- 36-hour weekly guarantee
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- ACLS
- BLS
- Intermediate fetal monitoring
- NRP
- LDRP experience
- Couplet care experience
- Experience circulating in the OR
- Ability to titrate pitocin
Job Details
- Rural hospital setting
- Labor and delivery / postpartum / mother-baby unit
- 12 LDRP rooms
- 1 OR suite on the unit for C-sections
- 1 triage bed
- 12 postpartum beds
- Average volume: 1.5 births per day, 50–60 per month
- Follows AWHONN ratio guidelines
- Charge nurse typically takes an assignment
- 1 surgical tech on the unit
- No OB/neonatologist in house 24/7
- No anesthesia in house 24/7
- No adult telemetry
- Fetal monitoring required
- GE and OBIX fetal monitoring systems
- Professional attire in any color
Scheduling and Assignment Expectations
- Every other weekend
- Call required per policy
- Floating required per policy
- Must float between L&D, postpartum, mother-baby/baby, and helping hands to other units as needed
- Potential to be placed on call
Orientation
- 1–2 shifts of unit orientation
- Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote
