- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend
- First to float
Required Qualifications
- Active California RN license
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- NIHSS certification
- 2–3 years of experience in the specialty
Unit Details
- 14-bed PCU/step-down unit
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3
- Unit cares for stepdown patients from ICU, TBI/trauma patients, major surgery, CEA, and sepsis cases
- Nurses are expected to titrate drips
- Common drips include precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, and levophed
- Unit uses arterial and CVP pressure lines
- Experience with pressor titration, trachs, and stable vented patients is needed
Scheduling and Work Expectations
- Self-scheduling is mostly available
- Schedules are initially made 2–3 weeks in advance, then about 9 weeks in advance
- Weekend requirement is 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
- Holiday coverage follows perm staff rotation
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating may include Tele or MedSurg
Orientation
- 1 shift on the unit
Additional Notes
- Open to first-time travelers
- Holiday RTO will be considered but is not guaranteed
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- The unit is busy and values teamwork, self-motivation, patient experience, HCAHPS, and core measures
