Required Qualifications
- Active BLS and NIHSS
- 2 years of Med Surg, PCU, or ICU experience
- Recent experience in the setting within the last year
- Drip experience
Preferred Experience
- Trach and vent experience
- Home trach/vent experience
Unit Details
- 28 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: days 1:4-5; nights 1:5-6 depending on acuity
- Common patient population includes neuro and trauma/ortho cases
- RNs titrate drips
- Charge nurse takes an assignment
- Nurse aides are available
- Central monitoring is located in a different area
Schedule
- Self-scheduling with manager balancing
- Schedule opens 6 weeks in advance
- Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Typically 2 of 3 winter holidays, otherwise every other holiday
- No call requirement
Floating
- Floating required to sister Med Surg units and other general care specialties
Orientation
- 1 shift of general orientation
- 1 shift with a preceptor
Additional Notes
- Open to first-time travelers
- Must clock in and out at the facility
- Any solid color scrubs are allowed
- Candidates living within 80 miles are considered local rate
- Prior employment with this facility must have ended at least 6 months before submission
