RN ICU - Pediatrics
Location
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Job Overview
Hospital-based pediatric ICU nursing role with float pool responsibilities across pediatric critical care and related children’s units.
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- Weekends and holidays required
Assignment Details
- Float pool position
- May float to PICU, CICU, NICU, and other pediatric acute care units
- NICU floating is limited to feeder/grower, low-acuity patients
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Valid RN license in Oklahoma
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- Critical Care Float experience within the last year
- 3 years of Critical Care Float experience
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Tracheostomy care experience
- High-flow oxygen experience
- Infusion experience
- PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience
- CVICU experience
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience
Required Skills
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
- Ability to apply nursing techniques
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
- Some computer skills
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients with a range of health problems
- Manage an assigned group of patients
- Document patient responses and changes in physician orders
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatment
- Monitor physiological data and intervene when necessary
- Administer medications and manage intravenous infusions and blood products
- Communicate care plans and discharge information to patients and families
- Make referrals for patient care needs
- Delegate tasks to support staff
