Description
Registered Nurse — High Acuity Unit
Location
- Peoria, Illinois
Contract
- 15 weeks
- Nights
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
Clinical Experience / Skills
- PEG tube care and feedings
- CVC, PICC, and midline usage and care
- Tracheostomy patient care
- Care of sedated, ventilated patients
- Titration of vasopressors, sedation, and pain control drips
Unit Details
- Critical care unit with 8 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2–3
- Common patient types include respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac patients
- RNs are required to titrate drips
- RT is available in house 24/7
- No nurse aides or patient care techs on the unit
- House supervisor available 24/7
- ICU RNs may float to the medical-surgical unit
Schedule / Work Expectations
- Every other weekend and as needed to fill holes
- Holiday rotation and as needed to fill holes
- No call or standby requirement at this time, but this may change
Orientation
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation
- Classroom orientation per policy plus 2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor
Additional Notes
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Drug screen required
- Scrubs only; approved t-shirts may be worn
- Telehealth MD available after hours
