ICU Registered Nurse

Location

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• Every other weekend
• Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added in
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Driver’s license required at submittal
• Must pass a pass/fail open-book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher

Experience / Clinical Expectations

• ICU nursing experience
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
• Must be able to float to PCU and occasionally Med-Surg
• Must be able to work with adult patients at a 1:2–3 ratio in ICU and typically 1:4–5 when floated

Unit Details

• 33-bed ICU
• Common patient types include trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance use, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
• Nurses may need to troubleshoot respiratory equipment, including from nasal cannula to ventilator support

Additional Requirements

• Radius rule: candidates must live more than 50 miles away
• Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity
• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• If called back in while on call, arrival is required within 30 minutes
• At least 2 holidays within the contract period must be worked
• Up to 7 days of requested time off is allowed upfront for a 13-week contract; additional time off will not be approved
• Unit orientation is 1 shift
