RN - Oncology
Overview
- Location: Independence, Missouri
- Employment type: Travel
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Hours per week: 48
- Start date: 12/14
- Guaranteed hours: 48 preferred
Unit Details
- Unit: 6th Floor Med-Surg/Oncology
- Bed count: 36
- Patient ratio: 1:6
- Patient population: Med-surg, oncology, hospice, and hemodynamically stable patients requiring cardiac monitoring with no interventions
- Floating: Med-Surg and Telemetry (med-surg level patients)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend; every third weekend also noted
- Call: No call
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Oncology experience within the last year
- 1 year of oncology experience
- BLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Skills and Unit Procedures
- Team-oriented, positive attitude, able to stay busy, patient-centered
- Wound vac changes
- Drain removal
- IV/PICC line care
- Foley insertion and removal
- NG insertion and removal
Additional Notes
- Documentation system: Meditech
- Unit staffing includes clinical care coordinators, RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and a unit secretary
- Equipment includes I-med, I-mobile, Neurons vital signs machine, glucometer, PCA, wound vac, chest tubes, and surgical drains
