Role Summary

Travel contract for an experienced Telemetry nurse on a 34-bed Cardiac Tele floor.

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS
• Active ACLS
• California RN license
• 2 full years of experience
• Stroke certification
• Experience caring for stroke patients
• Prior tele, stepdown, or PCU experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Cerner EMR experience

Unit Details

• Ratios: 1:4
• Charge nurse present each shift
• Nurse aides available, though not always
• Hospitalist in house 24/7
• RT 24/7
• Pharmacy 24/7
• No call
• Vents: bi-pap
• Tele monitored on a different unit by monitor techs, with monitors on the unit as well
• Nurses must be able to read and interpret their own strips

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• 2 weekends every 4 weeks
• Work one major holiday and two minor holidays

Floating

• First to float to MS Tele floors 5th, 6th, and 7th

Clinical Experience / Patient Population

• Post CVA
• Rule-out CHF
• Respiratory failure
• DM
• HTN
• Non-titrating drips, including cardizem
• Titrate heparin only
• No insulin drips
• Post-ops
• Some post cardiac caths
• Post PCI patients are not assigned to travelers

Additional Information

• Level II facility
• Scrub color: Navy
• Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts with Cerner experience, 3 shifts without
• Standby response time: 30 minutes
• May be asked to do primary nursing if no nurse aide is available
• Extra shifts may be available
• Block scheduling is not accommodated
• 50-mile radius rule
• Cannot be perm or per diem at another CommonSpirit facility within the past 12 months
• Cannot have a second job and must prioritize the travel assignment schedule
