Labor & Delivery RN

Overview

• Travel contract in Stockton, California
• 13 weeks
• Days, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Unit

• Labor & Delivery unit
• Approximately 300 deliveries per month
• Unit has 2 OB ED beds, 4 antepartum rooms, 9 labor rooms, and 2 ORs

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS
• Active ACLS
• Active NRP
• Advanced AWHONN / Advanced EFM
• California RN license
• 2 full years of experience
• Cerner experience required
• No first-time travelers
• Must have strong IV skills

Preferred

• Advanced Fetal Monitoring

Schedule

• Every other weekend, with potential for more depending on rotations
• 2 out of 3 major holidays
• No call

Floating

• Float first to postpartum
• May also float to NICU

Clinical Details

• High-risk OB patients with multiple co-morbidities
• Multiple births
• No neonatal surgeries completed at this facility
• NICU nurse attends all high-risk deliveries with an RT
• In-house laborist and anesthesia 24/7
• RT 24/7
• Pharmacy 24/7

Additional Notes

• Charge nurse generally does not take patients
• OB techs scrub C-sections
• Scrub color provided by hospital
• Floor orientation: 2 shifts
• Must complete all required modules prior to arrival
• Baby-friendly environment
• First-hour skin-to-skin is important
• Must be comfortable with surrogates and multiples
