ICU RN - 2E SICU

Location

• Marshfield, Wisconsin

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour day or night shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday

Unit / Department

• 2E SICU
• 16 beds, plus 2 additional procedural beds

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• SICU - Surgical Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
• SICU - Surgical Intensive Care experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• TNCC
• CRRT experience
• IABP experience
• Impella experience
• ECMO experience

Clinical Details

• Common patient types include cardiovascular surgery, traumas, NSTEMI/STEMI, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, ortho surgery, ENT surgery, and other surgical ICU patients
• Higher-acuity patients may include CRRT, immediate post-op hearts, MTP, and OPO
• Immediate post-op heart patients are cared for 1:1 by specifically trained nurses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2, 1:1 for higher-acuity patients, and 1:3 for medsurg/floor-status patients
• Charge nurse is present every shift and usually does not take patients, but may need to based on census/need
• Nursing house supervisor is available 24/7
• One nurse aide is available for the unit during day shift; not typical on night shift
• Intensivist is in house 24/7
• RT is in ICU 24/7
• Tele techs are on the unit; RNs monitor their own patients’ telemetry and document rhythm strips
• Common drips include Epi, norepi, propofol, precedex, vaso, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, dopamine, neo, and milrinone
• RT equipment includes vents, bipap, and vapotherm

Orientation

• One day of system onboarding/CBT completion
• Two orientation shifts on the unit
• Skills checklist completion required

Additional Notes

• Clean and professional dress code; no specific scrub color required
• Clinician must clock in and out at the facility
• If the clinician has ever worked for Marshfield, there must be an end date at least 6 months before submission
