Unit Details
- ICU
- 16 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- Common patient types: Cardiac, Respiratory
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Drivers License required at time of submittal
- Acute Care experience
- Critical Care experience
Schedule
- Days: 0645-1915 or 1845-0715
- Every other weekend required
- 1 major and 1 minor holiday required
- May be placed on call for low census; 30-minute response time if called in
Clinical Details
- RNs titrate drips
- Common titratable/set-rate drips: Levophed, Propfol, Insulin, Dopamine, Neosynephrine, Precedex
- Charge nurse and house supervisor present
- No nurse aides on the unit
- Hospitalist or intensivist in house
- RT in ICU 24/7
- RT equipment available: vents, CPAP, BiPAP, etc.
- RNs read strips; no monitor techs
Floating
- Contract RNs float first
Orientation
- 2 shifts
Dress Code
- Black, cocoa brown, charcoal grey, navy blue, khaki
