Labor & Delivery RN

Overview

• Location: West Valley, Utah
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours
• Hours per week: 36
• Unit: L&D/PP/MB
• Unit details: 7 L&D beds, 1 OR suite for C-sections, 3 triage beds, 11 postpartum beds
• Birth volume: 15 per month

Required Qualifications

• 1 year of Labor & Delivery specialty experience within the last 3 years
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to read fetal strips
• Must be available for 5 shifts in a 6-week period on weekends
• Must be in state for the week of orientation
• Driver’s license must be submitted

Preferred

• 1 year of travel experience is highly preferred
• Ability to transition is preferred, but not required

Clinical Setting

• Patient population includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum couplet care, triage, and circulating C-sections
• Oxytocin is a common titratable drip
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• 1 OB surgical tech on unit per shift
• No OB/neonatologist in house 24/7
• No anesthesia in house 24/7
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit

Floating

• May float to MedSurg during low census
• Float duties may include aid work

Scheduling and Orientation

• Self-scheduling is allowed
• Holiday coverage is as needed
• Unit orientation is 1–2 shifts
• Orientation schedule includes 6p–6:30a and 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
