Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Evening shift
• 36 hours per week
• Not day/night rotating
• Travelers do not self-schedule

Unit Details

• Peds ER
• Trauma Level 1
• STEMI receiving
• Stroke center
• 23 beds
• No separate bays
• Separate triage/entrance in the Children’s ED
• ER holds are intermixed
• No separate psych/seclusion rooms
• Security is in-house 24/7 and housed in the ED
• ED attendings and residents are staffed
• 2 charge nurses in the ED
• 2 house supervisors on shift
• ED techs are staffed at a 9:1 ratio
• Radiology staff or transport handles transport
• Nurses and techs draw labs
• Monitor tech support is available
• RT is not stationed in the department but can be called to support when needed

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• Negative drug screen for all panels
• Must provide the last four digits of SSN
• Must provide middle initial
• Must provide requested time off

Preferred Qualifications

• ENPC
• TNCC
• 2 years of nursing experience
• 1 prior travel assignment
• SANE RN experience
• Experience working at a teaching hospital with residents

Clinical Notes

• Travelers may care for stabilized trauma patients after transfer to a pod, but will not likely be the primary nurse in the trauma bay
• Nurses should be able to interpret and act on rhythms, including recognizing life-threatening rhythms
• Nurses perform breathing treatments and ABGs
• Nurses should be proficient in vasopressor drips, cardiac drips, antihypertensive drugs, and other drip titration
• Phillips monitors are used
