Pediatric ER
Overview
- Role: RN
- Employment type: Travel
- Location: San Antonio, Texas
- Unit: Children’s Emergency
- Unit details: 36 beds plus 2 trauma rooms
- Assignment length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 7A-7:30P / 7P-7:30A / 1P-1:30A / 3P-3:30A
- Weekend: Rotating
- Call: No
- Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
- Floating: Required; first to float to ED holds or inpatient as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS
- PALS or ENPC
- TNCC
- CPI
- Pediatrics ER - Emergency Room (2 years of experience)
- Pediatrics ER - Emergency Room experience within the last year
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership skills, such as Charge Nurse or Nursing educator experience
- Accessing and performing care and interventions on all pediatric patients
- Meditech experience
Unit Details
- Patient ratio: 3:1
- Staffing includes unit clerk, pharmacist, tech, midlevel providers, and physicians
- Standard ER equipment specific for pediatric management
- Procedures performed: IVs, in and out caths, medication reconciliation
Additional Notes
- Fast-paced unit with a culture of teamwork
- Approximately 200 patients during winter season, increasing to over 250 per day
