MedSurg/Tele Float Pool RN

Contract Length

13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Nights
• Every other weekend
• Holidays are worked into the rotation with permanent staff

Unit / Float Scope

• MedSurg/Tele Float Pool
• Most frequent float units: 6N (36 beds) and 7N (29 beds)
• Other possible float units: 4N (36 beds), 5S (36 beds), 6S (36 beds), and Critical Care (20 beds)
• RN’s report to the clinical coordinator’s office before shift start for unit assignment
• RN’s may float to all 6 units and will most likely be assigned a parent unit
• Assignments are basic telemetry patients within scope of practice

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• Must pass a cardiac rhythm exam
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Unexpired driver’s license copy must be included with submission

Clinical Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio is mainly 1:5–6 on days and nights; occasionally up to 1:7 toward the end of a shift
• No drip titration required
• CPAP and BiPap are managed by RT
• Most units have monitor techs
• CNAs are used on all units
• Royal blue scrubs

Orientation

• 1–2 shifts with a preceptor
