Tele 3SW RN
Overview
- Role: RN (Registered Nurse)
- Specialty/unit: Tele 3SW
- Location: Bakersfield, California
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Must be able to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms
Preferred Qualifications
- Cerner experience preferred
Unit Details
- 32 beds, all private
- Patient mix includes acute/chronic medical conditions, cardiac telemetry patients, stroke patients, non-titratable drips, COVID patients, forensic patients, and potential post-op patients
- No titration required
- Set-rate drips may include Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin
- GE monitors
- CNAs based on census
- CPAP or BiPAP may be used per RT and MD order; no vents
Schedule and Staffing
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00a–7:30p and 7:00p–7:30a
- 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
- 1 major and 1 minor holiday minimum
- No call, but may be placed on standby for low census with a 30-minute response time
- Travelers are first to float
- May float to Mercy Downtown, any MS/MST unit, ICU for MST patients, and ER for MST holds
- 1–2 shifts with a preceptor for orientation
Additional Notes
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Must follow evidence-based practices, including bedside shift report, intentional hourly rounding, and medication teaching including side effects
- The unit is described as fast paced with many admissions and high acuity
- Strict attendance expectations apply
