Tele 3SW RN
Overview
- Location: Bakersfield, California
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour days
- Hours per week: 36
Unit
- 32-bed all-private unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 for tele patients; 1:5 for MedSurg patients
- If mixed MS and Tele, ratio remains 1:4
Required Qualifications
- RN
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- At least 2 years of experience
- Must be able to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms
Preferred Qualifications
- Cerner experience
Clinical Details
- Patient population includes acute/chronic medical conditions, cardiac telemetry patients, stroke patients, non-titratable drips, COVID patients, forensic patients, and potential post-op patients
- No titration
- Set-rate drips: Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin
- GE monitors
- Cpap or Bipap per RT and MD order; no vents
- CNAs based on census
Schedule
- 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
- 1 major and 1 minor holiday minimum
- No call; may be placed on standby for low census with a 30-minute response time if called in
Floating
- Travelers are first to float
- May float to Mercy Downtown
- May float to any MS/MST unit
- May float to ICU for MST patients
- May float to ER for MST holds
Orientation
- 1 to 2 shifts with a preceptor
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs
- Undershirt, if worn, must be navy, white, or black
- Scrub jacket, if worn, must be navy
- No hoodies, sweatshirts, or sweat jackets
Additional Notes
- Fast-paced unit with many admissions and high acuity
- Strict attendance expectations
- Must uphold evidence-based practices, including bedside shift report, intentional hourly rounding, and medication teaching with side effects
