MS ICU RN
Overview
- Location: Omaha, Nebraska
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts
- Hours: 36 hours guaranteed per week
Required Qualifications
- RN
- 2 years of recent ICU experience
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Driver’s license required at submittal
Unit Details
- Department: Med Surg ICU RN
- Beds: 34
- Patient population: Adults and pediatrics over 15 years old
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1-2 in ICU, 1:4-5 in PCU, 1:5-6 in MS
- Charge nurse: Present on each shift and attends RRTs and Codes
- Patient care techs: Present, ratio 1:18
- Telemetry: No tele techs; RNs must read and interpret strips
- Orientation: 2 shifts
Clinical Responsibilities
- Titrate drips
- Care for patients with respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, general surgery, psych/OD, GI bleeds, and cancer-specific surgeries
- Manage vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
- Work with nasal cannula to vents
- Float to all inpatient units except Maternity and NICU
Schedule and Work Environment
- Schedule is set by the manager based on unit needs
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: 2 of 3 major holidays or every other, as needed
- Navy blue scrubs
- 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation
- Fast-paced unit with a team environment
