Overview

• Role: MedSurg RN
• Location: Red Bluff, California
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour days
• Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS
• Active ACLS
• Active CA license
• 2-3 years of experience in the specialty
• Tele experience

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS
• Pediatric experience

Unit Details

• Med/Surg
• 45 beds total: adult medsurg and pediatric medsurg telemetry combined
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
• Floating: may float to tele or OB if they have that experience
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
• Holiday requirement: works into perm staff rotation
• Call/standby: required
• Scrub color: Navy Blue

Clinical Notes

• Common patient types include medsurg, COPD, post-op, GI bleeds, OBGYN surgeries, ortho, sepsis, altered mental status, CP r/o, stroke, cellulitis, and ETOH withdrawal
• May titrate heparin
• Common drips include heparin and protonix
• Nurses do not need to read and interpret tele strips
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow
• Very fast-paced unit with average length of stay of 3 days
• If the traveler does not have pediatric experience, they will not take pediatric patients
