Assignment Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour nights
• Every other weekend
• 36 hours per week

Unit

• L&D, Well-Baby Nursery, and Postpartum combined into one unit
• 10 beds

Required Qualifications

• Active CA RN license
• BLS
• NRP
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• 2+ years of experience
• Postpartum experience
• L&D experience
• Antepartum experience
• Post Partum experience
• Couplet care experience

Preferred

• NCC certified inpatient OB (RNC-OB)

Clinical Details

• Must be comfortable running and managing delivery independently
• Will work both L&D and postpartum on the unit
• May occasionally care for post-op gyn surgery patients on the postpartum side
• May see high-risk deliveries, 35 weeks and above, drug babies going through withdrawal protocol, and twin deliveries
• Does not need to scrub in for C-sections
• Floating is rare and only if desired, to medsurg or CCU
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment

Additional Notes

• 11/3 only orientation
• 2–3 days of floor-specific orientation
• Self-scheduling to some degree
• Schedules are made 30–45 days in advance
• Can take call if desired
• About 30–40 deliveries per month
