Overview

• 18-bed ICU in Houston, Texas
• Nights, 12-hour shifts
• 48 hours per week
• 6-week schedule block
• Schedule is developed by a scheduler and based on unit needs
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays are required
• No call or standby requirement
• Navy blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Current experience in a high acuity ICU
• Open to floating
• Flexible with changing assignment based on acuity and 1:3 patient ratio
• Flexible with scheduling; no self-scheduling
• Experience in a very busy hospital
• 3+ years of experience
• Previous travel experience
• Current experience in a high acuity ICU
• Must be able to titrate drips

Preferred Qualifications

• CRRT experience
• Current CRRT with NxStage device

Unit Details

• Heavy, high acuity, very busy unit
• Busy/Large Level 1 Trauma
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 2:1 and 1:1 with defined patient conditions
• Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, sepsis, endstage liver disease, and renal failure
• Charge nurse every shift; not always without assignment
• House Supervisor 24/7
• PCA support floats within the unit
• Intensivist and APP coverage 24/7
• RT on unit 24/7
• RT equipment includes Hamilton Vent and BiPap
• Philips bedside monitor, Alairs IV pumps, and NxStage CRRT are used
• Floating scope includes critical care and PCU
• Unit/department orientation is 2
• Daily parking is $15+/day; monthly parking pass options are available at additional cost
