Role

• Telemetry nurse travel contract
• Unit: Tele 4th floor
• 34 beds

Required Qualifications

• Valid California RN license
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• 2 years of Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
• Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• Telemetry experience
• Experience working with Stroke patients
• Ability to titrate heparin

Preferred

• Cerner EMR experience

Schedule

• 12-hour nights
• 36 hours per week
• 2 weekends every 4 weeks
• Holidays as core staff: work one major and two minor holidays
• No block or set scheduling

Unit Details

• High acuity telemetry, more PCU/stepdown
• Charge nurse each shift
• Nurse aides available, but not guaranteed
• Hospitalist in house 24/7
• RT 24/7
• Pharmacy 24/7
• No IV team
• Vents: bi-pap
• Tele monitored on a different unit by monitor techs, with monitors on the unit as well
• Nurses must be able to read and interpret their own strips

Floating

• First to float
• May float to MS Tele floors 5th, 6th, and 7th

Patient Population

• Post CVA
• Rule-out CHF
• Respiratory failure
• DM
• HTN
• Non-titrating drips, including cardizem
• Titrate heparin only
• No insulin drips
• Post-ops
• Some post cardiac caths
• Post PCI patients are not assigned to travelers

Additional Notes

• Standby response time is 30 minutes
• If placed on standby and not called in, it counts as a cancellation
• May not always have a nurse aide and may need to provide primary nursing
• Extra shifts may be available at times
