PCU RN Travel Contract

Overview

Specialty: Registered Nurse
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment type: Travel/Contract
Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day, 3x12s, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
Hours per week: 36

Schedule and unit details

Weekend coverage may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block.
One holiday must be worked per 13-week contract.
Floating is required within skillset.
Adult and geriatric PCU with high turnover.
Primary focus includes chest pain management, ER flow, MI rule-in/rule-out, overflow from cardiology and medicine PCU, and occasional post-cath patients.
Remote telemetry monitoring is used on the unit.

Required qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
1 year of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience with Epic
Cardiac monitoring and emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, activation of Rapid Response/Code teams
IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care
Administration and management of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix – no titration)
