MedSurg/Tele 2 North RN

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced MedSurg/Tele RN.
• Location: Grass Valley, California.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California.
• 2 years of experience.
• BLS.
• ACLS.
• NIHSS.
• Able to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Competent in at least Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips.
• Dysrhythmia exam (Basic) through UNA must be completed within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance and is pass/fail with two attempts.

Unit Details

• Unit: MedSurg 2 North.
• 38 beds, including 8 Tele beds.
• Ratio: 1:5.
• Fast-paced unit with a 2-hallway layout.
• Common patients include general MedSurg, post-op general, and ortho patients.

Float / Coverage

• Will float to Tele.
• First to float.

Schedule / Work Expectations

• Every other weekend.
• Holidays rotate with core staff.
• 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45.
• Self-scheduling is used.
• Block scheduling is generally not available.
• OT and extra shifts are available.

Clinical Environment

• Charge nurse generally does not take patients but provides break relief.
• Nurse aides are available as census and staffing dictates.
• Hospitalist or Intensivist in house.
• RT 24/7.
• Pharmacy 24/7.
• No vents.
• No IV team.

Additional Notes

• Cerner EMR.
• Navy scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets, if worn, must be navy.
• Facility-wide orientation is held the first week in Sacramento, not in Grass Valley.
• COVID declination options are available for medical or religious reasons.
