Telemetry South RN

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced Telemetry RN
• Location: Grass Valley, California
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Hours per week: 36
• Unit: Telemetry 2 South
• Unit size: 14 South, 8 East

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in California
• 2 years of experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips

Preferred / Helpful

• Charge nurse experience is helpful, as the charge nurse generally does not take patients but does do break relief

Schedule / Work Expectations

• Every other weekend
• Holidays rotate with core staff
• First to float
• Floating may include MedSurg and Tele
• 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45
• Self-scheduling is used, but schedules are not finalized until the manager balances them
• Block scheduling is generally not available
• Overtime and extra shifts are available

Unit Details

• Nurse aides are available as census and staffing dictates
• Vents: No
• Hospitalist or intensivist in house
• IV team: No
• RT 24/7
• Pharmacy 24/7
• Floor orientation: 1–2 days with a preceptor
• Common patient types include cardiac patients and general overflow
• Stable non-titrating Cardizem, Amio, and Heparin are part of the patient mix

Additional Notes

• Facility-wide orientation is held the first week in Sacramento, not in Grass Valley
• Travelers work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s
• Holiday time off is considered but not guaranteed
• Must be a flexible team member
• COVID declination is allowed with a physician’s note; religious declination does not require supporting documentation
