Surgery Tech

Overview

• Performs duties as a member of the surgical team to support a safe and successful operative procedure.
• Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and reports to Surgical Services management.
• Supports system-wide surgical operations initiatives and participates in the surgical operations safety plan.

Schedule

• 3 12-hour day shifts, 0645-1915, Monday-Friday, with no set day off
• Weekend call and holiday shifts required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Certified Surgical Technologist license in Colorado
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, or graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months, or two years of scrub tech experience in hospital or military surgical services within the last three years
• Experience in a hospital setting
• 2 years of Surgical Tech experience
• 1 year of scrubbing experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital
• Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery
• Certified Surgical Technologist

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the sterile field and ensure environmental safety
• Recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes
• Prepare the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure
• Assist with sterile processing
• Assist the surgeon during the procedure within ORT scope of practice
• Identify emergency situations and respond appropriately
• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure
