SICU Registered Nurse

Overview

Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia

Shift: Night, 3x12 hours, 19:00–07:00
Start: ASAP
Contract length: 13 weeks
Setting: Short-term acute care hospital
Unit: Surgical ICU
Trauma level: Level II Trauma Center

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
SICU - Surgical Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
SICU - Surgical Intensive Care experience within the last year
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Job Details

First-time travelers: Accepted
Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs
Local candidates: Accepted
Travel pairs: Accepted, but same schedule is not guaranteed
On-call: Not required
Block scheduling: Not accommodated
Ratios: 1:2–3, adjusted for skill level and acuity during required float

Trauma patients
Cardiovascular surgery patients, including TAVR and CABG recovery
Neurosurgery patients
Other complex surgical patients

Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Arterial line management
Blood product administration
Care for patients with acute ventilator needs, high oxygen demand, DKA, severe sepsis, unstable GI bleed, open heart recovery, post-code blue, multi-system organ failure, and CRRT needs
