Overview

• Role: RN (Registered Nurse)
• Specialty/Unit: 10E Stepdown/Medsurg
• Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts
• Hours per week: 36

Unit Details

• 29-bed flex unit currently under construction; all beds will be step-down equipped when the opening occurs in first quarter 2026.
• Serves both floor and step-down patients based on patient and hospital needs.
• Primarily medical diagnoses.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 3:1 for step-down and 6:1 for med-surg.
• Charge RNs and House Supervisors are on duty 24/7.
• Nurse aids are available; the goal is 3 Clinical Associates at all times.
• Floating is first to other floor/stepdown units.

Required Qualifications

• BLS (AHA)
• RN candidates must be able to handle either a 6-patient med-surg assignment or a 3-patient step-down assignment.
• Epic experience
• Ability to titrate drips as ordered

Preferred

• New and experienced nurses are both considered.

Clinical Skills / Patient Care

• Common drips include heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbitol, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN.
• Will see CPAP and BiPAP on the floor and step-down.
• Will see HiFlow and vents in step-down; vent setting changes are handled in ICU.
• RNs are not expected to read their own strips.

Schedule / Staffing

• Agency RN positions are posted as weekend positions.
• Expect to work about half of recognized holidays.
• No call or standby requirement.
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Dress Code

• Any combination of royal blue and white.

Orientation

• 12-hour nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
