RN Emergency Dept

Overview

• Travel assignment in McAllen, Texas
• 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract
• Unit: Edinburg FSED
• 10 beds
• Patient ratio: 1:5
• Fully functional ED
• Work every other weekend

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS
• BLS
• PALS
• TNCC
• ENPC
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Meditech

Preferred

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
• Experience in Level 1 and 2 trauma center settings
• Ability to assist in obstetric deliveries in the emergency room
• Familiar with rapid sequence intubation techniques
• Proficiency in setting up for mechanical ventilation

Floating

• Main Emergency Department
• Other sister Freestanding Emergency Departments

Typical Procedures

• Splinting
• Moderate sedation
• Chest tube insertion
• Placement of central lines
• Arterial blood gas
• Lumbar puncture
• Nebulizer treatments

• Strong team dynamics and communication skills are emphasized
