ICU RN

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced ICU RN in Folsom, California.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week.

Unit Details

• ICU unit with 8 beds.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1-2.
• Telemetry monitoring is required; must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Ventilated patients are cared for in the unit.
• No nurse aides in the ICU.
• Charge nurse is generally not assigned patients, but does provide break relief.
• RT and Pharmacy are available 24/7.
• No IV team.
• Hospitalist or intensivist is not in house; a telemed robot is used.

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS.
• Active ACLS.
• Active NIHSS.
• California RN license.
• 2 years of ICU experience.
• Must complete the dysrhythmia exam through Relias within 24-48 hours before signing; two attempts are allowed.
• Must provide 2 supervisory references from the modality at submittal, including 1 within the last 12 months and 1 within the last 3 years.
• Copy of driver’s license is required at submittal to validate legal name.

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required.
• Holidays rotate with core staff.
• Self-scheduling is used.
• Travelers may be placed on-call if not needed in the department.
• Floor orientation is 1-2 days with a preceptor.

Floating

• May float to all other Sacramento facilities.
• First to float.

Patient Population

• General medical/surgical patients.
• Stable CVA post TPA, respiratory failure, manual proning, COPD, CHF, and DKA.
• No CABG or Neuro surgery.
