Overview

• Travel assignment in Independence, Missouri

• 48 hours per week guaranteed is an option

• Progressive Care Unit
• Main Hospital
• 36 beds

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS
• ACLS
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
• 1 year of experience in ICU - Intensive Care Unit
• Management of vasoactive drips

Preferred

• NIH Certification

Unit Details

• Patient ratios: 1:3 AM, 1:4 AM or 1:4 PM, 1:5 PM with patient care techs
• Typically total RN-based care with no techs unless stretched
• Secretaries are scheduled 7am-7pm in the PCU and are available for a number of resources
• Equipment includes BiPAP, Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, and Kangaroo Feeding Pumps
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Floating area: Telemetry Unit
• Floating policy: PRN floats 1 time per week; FT/PT staff floats in a rotation based upon dates; bonus shifts always float first

Scheduling

• FT staff: 36 hours per week with every 3rd weekend rotation
• PT staff: 48 hours per week with every 3rd weekend rotation
• PRN 1 staff: 3 shifts in a 4-week period with 1 weekend shift requirement
• PRN 2 staff: 6 shifts in a 4-week period with 3 weekend shift requirements
• Rotating holiday schedule

Clinical Expectations

• Bedside shift report
• Hourly rounding
• Daily leadership rounds
• Central Line or PICC line placement
• Chest tube placements

Other Details

• Positive attitude and desire to work as a member of a team
• Required uniform: charcoal grey scrub tops with charcoal grey or black scrub bottoms; black or charcoal grey jackets, with the option to order unit specific jackets
