Overview

• 13-week contract
• Location: Fort Morgan, Colorado
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 36 per week
• Unit: Med/Surg
• Bed count: 14
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• Must be comfortable reading strips and escalating concerns to a physician
• Must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote
• Must self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• May be asked to float into ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele

Preferred

• Understanding of working in a rural, lower-resource setting with typically lower patient volumes

Clinical Setting

• Common patient types include CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
• RN titration of drips is required
• Common drips include analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are available, with 1 for the floor once census reaches 9 patients
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and vents

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Self-scheduling and block scheduling are available
• Holiday coverage is required
• Call or standby is determined by the nurse manager
• Floating is determined by the nurse manager and department needs

• Unit-specific orientation date and location are assigned during orientation week
