Overview

• Location: Fort Morgan, Colorado
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Hours per week: 36
• Unit: Med/Surg
• Beds: 14
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• Must be comfortable reading strips and escalating concerns to a physician
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be in state for the week of orientation
• Must be able to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Must be able to float as determined by the nurse manager and department needs
• Must be able to work nights

Preferred

• Understanding of working in a rural, lower-resource setting with typically lower patient volumes

Unit Details

• Common patient types include CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
• Common titratable or set-rate drips include analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are available, with 1 for the floor once census reaches 9 patients
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and vents
• Scrub color: Navy Blue

Floating Scope

• May be asked to float to ICU for low-acuity holds with skillset, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele

Scheduling

• Self-scheduling and block scheduling are available
• Holiday requirement applies
• Call or standby is determined by the nurse manager
• Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
