Radiation Therapist

Overview

• Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
• Setting: Clinical-Allied
• Schedule: Days; shifts vary within clinic hours of 6:00a-6:00p
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Radiation Therapist (1 year of experience)
• Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
• ARRT
• Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technologist program
• Experience in Educator roles

Preferred Qualifications

• Elekta experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Administers radiation therapy according to physician instructions and the patient’s treatment plan
• Enters data into computer systems and adjusts equipment to regulate dosage
• Assists physicians, radiation oncologists, clinical physicists, and others in preparing physical and technical aspects of radiation treatment plans
• Constructs patient immobilization devices as ordered
• Maintains patient and billing records, reports, and files according to department policies and procedures
• Performs routine and complex radiation therapy treatments, including total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high brachytherapy
• Prepares equipment and room for patients
• Uses appropriate protective equipment and procedures to ensure safety
• Performs quality assurance procedures per state and federal guidelines
• Provides on-the-job clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists
