Description
Labor and Delivery RN
Overview
- Contract RN role in Mauston, Wisconsin.
- Night shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week, 1900-0730, with weekend rotation.
- 13-week contract.
Role Summary
Provides nursing care for maternal and newborn patients and cross-trains to care for Med Surg/EICU patients when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
- 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience.
- Manages induction of labor and cervical ripening.
- Deals competently with medical emergencies including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, management of meconium, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa.
- Performs and accurately interprets fetal heart monitoring.
- Performs neonatal resuscitation within scope of practice and certification.
- Assesses condition of newborn and recognizes situations of heightened surveillance or situations that require a higher level of care.
- Recognizes and manages neonatal sepsis.
- Monitors newborn for any adverse events such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice, and intervenes appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four-year degree in nursing.
