Description
Respiratory Therapist II
Location
- Goldsboro, North Carolina
Contract
- 13 weeks
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour day shifts
Role Summary
- Advanced respiratory care role providing airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and respiratory care procedures and treatments.
- May also perform pulmonary function testing as needed.
- May be required to be on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Functions independently with minimal supervision and serves as a resource to other staff.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Respiratory Therapist with 2 years of experience
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP
- Airway management including aspiration of established airways, tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, endotracheal intubations and extubations
- Mechanical ventilator management including setting up the ventilator, verifying function using specialized ventilator modes, monitoring patients, and providing weaning techniques
- Oxygen therapy
- Aerosol therapy and aerosol medication delivery
- Respiratory care procedures and treatments designed to assess, prevent, stabilize or remedy patients respiratory dysfunction
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Experience with pulmonary function testing (PFTs)
- Experience with ECMO management including managing extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support
- Advanced practice procedures per UNC Air Care Protocol including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, intraosseous insertion, chest tube insertion, and needle decompression

- May transport pediatric and neonatal patients when working with Carolina Air Care
- May perform advanced practice procedures per UNC Air Care Protocol, including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, intraosseous insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABGs, and blood glucose monitoring
- May manage extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support when working with ECMO
