Description
NICU
Overview
- Travel/Contract RN position in Seattle, Washington.
- Level III or IV NICU.
- 13-week contract.
- Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:30.
- 36 hours per week.
- 77-bed NICU with average census of 50.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington.
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (3 years of experience).
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- ACLS.
- BLS.
- PALS.
- NRP.
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
- IV Certification.
- NIH Stroke Certification.
- Fit Mask.
- RespSafety Clearance.
- References: minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment total within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application with at least the last 5 years of employment.
- Skills checklist required for the applicable unit.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam, as applicable by profession.
- Competency Exam, as applicable by profession/specialty.
- Washington State Patrol search required within 90 days of start.
- Background check required within 90 days of start.
- Education verification required for all candidates.
- Drug screen within 12 months of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- TB clearance within 12 months of start.
- Tdap within 10 years.
- Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, flu, and COVID documentation or declination as applicable.
- Must be separated from any previous perm role at a Providence-affiliated facility for at least 3 months.
- Experience with CPAP/BiPap.
- Experience with High Frequency Ventilation.
- Experience with Oscillators.
- Experience with ventilator management.
- Experience with blood and blood products administration.
- Experience with cardioversion/defibrillation.
- Experience with cooling/warming blankets.
- Experience with feeding tubes.
- Experience with PICC/central line management.
- Experience with syringe pumps.
Preferred
- Block scheduling if preferred; can work 3 or more shifts in a row.
Clinical Notes
- Travelers usually do not admit babies because the unit has a dedicated Admit Nurse.
- Very rarely floats to Peds; if floated there, only infants are assigned.
- No ECMO, but all others are supported.
- Clinical capabilities listed include CPAP/BiPap, high frequency vents, oscillators, vents, blood/blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blanket, feeding tubes, PICC/central lines, syringe pumps, high-risk deliveries, and neonatal surgeries.
- Rarely floats due to high NICU need, but may float to Issaquah or Edmonds SCN, or Pediatrics/NBN for newborns only.
