Respiratory Therapist / Respiratory Care
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Baltimore, Maryland
- Day shift: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, 3x12s
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend and holiday availability required
- No float requirement indicated
- Local candidates accepted
- First-time travelers accepted
- Cerner is the charting system
- Charcoal/Dark Grey scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Maryland
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (3 years of experience)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Experience in a(n) Critical Care setting
- Experience in a(n) Emergency Department setting
- Airway management including extubation, intubation assistance, suctioning and tracheostomy care
- Experience caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia and fresh tracheostomies
- Experience with bronchoscopy support and sputum specimen collection
- Ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, pressure-alarm troubleshooting and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Chest physiotherapy
- Experience with arterial blood sampling
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Preferred Qualifications
- RRT preferred
- CRT candidates with 5 years of experience may be considered
Clinical Setting
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Supports Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department populations
- Works closely with Rapid Response Teams and provides respiratory support throughout the hospital
Equipment / Modalities
- BiPAP
- CPAP
- Mechanical ventilators
- High-flow oxygen and other oxygen-delivery systems
- Nebulizer and aerosol medication-delivery systems
Patient Conditions / Care Experience
